For years my resin work has often been mistaken for enamel. Not a lot of people are familar with resin, but enamel has been around for ages. After years of hearing "Is that enamel?", I thought I should learn a bit about enameling. Essentially enamel is a powdered glass that has been "melted" onto a metal surface. There are many techniques for enameling but typically it is fired in a kiln. But instead of using a kiln I am using a technique called torch-firing. What I love about it is that each piece comes out entirely different, I can choose to under fire or over fire the enamel to create a different texture.
