I believe handmade art should be accessible. Making work with meaning is the driving force behind Metalsgirl. It must be something people enjoy.
I don't know if I ever really believed that I could make a living as an artist...I had a degree in art, but I was working as a substitute teacher, a physical therapy tech, retail at a big home goods shop...all kinds of odd jobs and just making gifts for friends here and there. But then my husband was laid off from his job - it kind of knocked me into gear and that very week Metalsgirl was born and I landed two retail shops to carry my work.
Since that week I've never looked back. I started a website, got a few more stores, then a few more, opened my etsy shop, do some art shows here and there, and I love every minute of it. I work from home so I can wrangle our house full of dogs, our own and our foster dogs. It really is the good life.
soon. i promise.
